• COURSE: Los Feliz

• CHECK IN TIME: 7:45am, Sunday June 22

• STORYLINES: It’s the first major of the year.  Last season Tim Joe won the event for the first time in stunning fashion, defeating 4-time defending champion Chris Moawad in sudden death. Still tied with Armen Grigorian for most Match Play titles (5), a Moawad win Sunday will tie Grigorian (Tournament of Champions) and add to his Tour Championship record for most wins (6) in any single tournament.  Jonathan Krieg, who debuted at the Hooters, will continue his Tour introduction and will face his uncle Walter in his first ever match.

Tim Joe (7-17 record in match play): 2024 was his first win in 18 career starts; (1-0 vs. Stolz; 1-3 vs. D. Vargas)
Chris Moawad (27-11): Last year his win streak ended at 4; tied with all-time tournament wins leader Armen Grigorian (5).  6-1 lifetime vs. W. Vargas and 0-0 vs. Krieg
Walter Vargas (16-13): 4-time finalist (2009, 2012, 2019, 2023); Match Play remains the one major missing from his impressive resumé. 1-6 lifetime vs. Moawad and 0-0 Krieg
Doug Vargas (22-12): 2-time former champion (2009,2013); 3-1 lifetime vs. Tim Joe and 0-0 vs. Stolz
Eric Stolz (2-6): In 2022, as a 4-seed, upset #2 Walter Vargas in the semi-finals, advancing to the Finals for the first time in his career; lost to defending champion Chris Moawad 3and1. 0-0 vs. D. Vargas and 0-1 vs. Tim Joe

NEW TIE-BREAKER RULE: In the event a match ends all square, golfers will play a sudden death hole(s) until a winner is determined.
