2025 SEASON IN REVIEW

The MGM Tour wrapped up its 23rd season which saw some victories induce pause and reflect moments.  P-Jay Fidler, a 20-year Tour veteran won the Masters for the first time. He then followed that with a win at the Griffith Observatory Championship 16 years… 16! since his last victory at Roosevelt. It was also his first Griffith start in 11 years. Doug Vargas won the Match Play Invitational 12 years… 12! since he last won the tournament.  Gerry “Ger-Bear” Vaughan ended a 12-tournament winless streak with a win at the season-ending Tour Championship, a tournament he last won 8 years ago.  The 2025 season also saw the debut of Jonathan Krieg who made his first Tour start at the Hooters just as his uncle Walter Vargas did 19 years earlier. Chris Moawad reached 150 career starts; Gerry Vaughan and Doug Vargas, 125; and P-Jay Fidler, 90.  Chris Moawad and Doug Vargas earned $26 and $6, respectively, in birdie pool money, the only golfers to do so this season. And Chris Moawad won his record-extending 7th Player of the Year honor.  He last won the award in 2019.

Chris Moawad won the South Bay Challenge for the first time.

2025 SEASON POINTS RACE

With 2 wins in a row (The Masters and Griffith Observatory Championship) P-Jay Fidler jumped 3 spots up from where he stood in the standings following Devil Ball.  Unfortunately a potential 3rd win in a row won’t be in the cards for Fidler as he’ll miss the season-ending Tour Championship. Current #1 Chris Moawad is poised to capture his first Player of the Year award in 6 years.  But he’s certainly no stranger to the title of #1 having won the honor a record 6 times before.  He enters this weekend’s Tour Championship as defending champion.
